Have you completed your required Code of Ethics Training?

REALTORS® are required to complete code of ethics training of not less than two hours and thirty minutes (2 ½ hrs.) of instructional time. REALTORS® completing such training during any three (3) year cycle shall not be required to complete additional ethics training in respect of this requirement as a requirement of membership in any other board or association. This has nothing to do with retaining your real estate license, but it is a requirement by NAR in order to maintain membership in a REALTOR® Association.

A REALTOR® completing the New Member Code of Ethics Orientation during any three (3) year cycle shall not be required to complete additional ethics training in respect of this requirement until a new three (3) year cycle commences.

Failure to complete the require periodic ethics training shall be considered a violation of membership duty. Failure to meet the requirement will result in suspension of membership for the first two months (January and February) of the year following the end of any three (3) year cycle or until the requirement is met, whichever occurs sooner. On March 1 of that year, the membership of a member who is still suspended as of that date will be automatically terminated.

The requirement may be met by taking the free online course provided by NAR. Choose the course for existing members. Please note that no CE credit is offered for the free online course, but a course is available for a fee that includes CE credit. GTAR will offer a code of ethics course locally at least twice during each compliance cycle. Course date(s) TBD. GTAR has a record of those in compliance and those needing the course. You may call us at 328-7800, if you have a question.
